When did the RNE Program requirements change?
The National Institute of Migration (INM) introduced changes to the requirements for the National Registry of Foreigners (RNE) on March 14, 2025, with immediate effect.
Who is eligible for the new RNE program?
As of March 14, the National Institute of Migration (INM) has clarified that the RNE program is exclusively available to foreign nationals who entered Mexico before or during 2022 and have remained in the country without leaving since then. If you left Mexico after 2022, you will not be eligible to apply for the new RNE program.
To qualify, you must currently be in Mexico with either a valid or expired tourist visa. Additionally, you will need to provide a clear photo of your passport to verify your eligibility for the RNE program.
What documents are needed for the new RNE program?
To apply for the Temporary Migration Regularization Program, you will need:
- A clear photo of your passport.
- Proof of financial solvency, which can be an employment offer, proof of income or even proof of your professional occupation. Our experts will define with you the most viable option.
- Any additional information required for the validation of your documents and biometric data, which our experts will assist you with.
How long does the process of the new RNE program take?
The process typically takes between 1 to 7 business days. This includes the validation of your documents and biometric data, ensuring a quick and efficient path to obtaining your Mexican residency. Note: We typically initiate the process right after your current tourist visa expires.
